A MAJOR new chapter for Sidley began as the town’s new community hub officially opened its doors yesterday (8th June), following the completion of a major regeneration project.
The new Sidley Hub was unveiled during a special opening event, marking the culmination of years of construction and collaboration between local organisations and community partners.
The hub has been created to provide a vibrant space for residents of all ages, offering creative activities, sports, social events, wellbeing support and skills development. The facilities were designed around the needs and aspirations of the local community, creating a welcoming venue where people could learn, connect and thrive.
The project formed part of the Transforming Heritage. Powering Community. initiative – a UK Government-funded partnership between the De La Warr Pavilion, Heart of Sidley and Rother District Council.
Working through the Creative Sidley partnership, organisers said the new hub would help strengthen community life by providing opportunities for creativity, learning and wellbeing while fostering greater pride in the area.
Representatives from the De La Warr Pavilion, Heart of Sidley and project partners joined residents to celebrate the official opening, describing the hub as an important investment in Sidley’s future.
The Sidley Hub was one of two flagship projects delivered through the wider initiative. Alongside the new community facility, work also continued on the De La Warr Pavilion’s An Icon for Everyone project, which will restore and reimagine the Grade I listed landmark for future generations.
Partners said both schemes would leave a lasting legacy by creating new opportunities, strengthening community connections and supporting the long-term future of Bexhill and Sidley.
