St Michael’s Hospice has launched new online Bereavement First Aid resources to help people feel more confident supporting those experiencing grief.
Developed in partnership with Hollington Primary School, Little Gate Farm and Rainbow Kitchen Magic, these resources are designed to normalise conversations around dying, death and loss, strengthen community connection and inspire compassion, understanding and care.
Ashley McCormick, Community Partnerships and Inclusion Lead, said: “We hope the Bereavement First Aid resources for primary schools, co-produced with Hollington Primary School, can support teachers through changes to the RSHE Curriculum, which will include learning around grief and loss. From September 2026, all pupils will learn that ‘change and loss, including bereavement, can provoke a range of feelings, that grief is a natural response to bereavement, and that everyone grieves differently’. (DfE, July 2025)”
The packs are available to download from the Hospice’s website stmichaelshospice.com and a limited number of hard copy packs will be available at the Good Grief Hastings marketplace event at the Stade on Saturday 23rd May.
