WITH this year’s Bexhill Carnival themed around the magic of the movies, residents and visitors are being encouraged to embrace their favourite film characters and join in a packed programme of events taking place across the town.
The carnival celebrations begin with a Quiz Night at Christchurch Methodist Church on Saturday, 18th July, giving film fans the chance to test their knowledge and enjoy a fun evening with friends and family.
Animal lovers won’t want to miss the Movie-Themed Dog Show on Sunday, 19th July, where four-legged friends can dress up and compete in a variety of entertaining classes. Later in the week, the movie theme continues with a Movie Quiz at Wetherspoons on Monday, 20th July.
Bargain hunters can head along to the popular Evening Boot Sale on Thursday, 23rd July, where visitors can browse for hidden treasures while supporting the carnival festivities.
One of the highlights of the week promises to be Party in the Park (Friday, 24th July), featuring music from DJ Dan Hack, The Rockitmen and special guest performers. Alongside the live entertainment, visitors can enjoy a fantastic selection of local food vendors, bars, stalls and Bensons Fairground Rides, all topped off with a spectacular firework finale.
The grand finale of carnival week arrives with the much-anticipated Carnival Procession, which will make its way through the town before finishing at the Polegrove Recreation Ground. Once there, visitors can enjoy a packed programme of entertainment featuring performances from Dyamond Dance and local music acts including Ruby Fitzmaurice, Foundry, Route 259 and First Form.
The Polegrove site will be buzzing with activity, offering a wide variety of stalls, food and drink outlets, family attractions and entertainment throughout the day. Whether you’re looking for great food, unique gifts, live music or simply a fun day out, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
As well as bringing the community together, this year’s carnival is raising money for two fantastic local causes: Jack Jeffreys Superhero Trust and Children with Cancer Fund. Every event and activity throughout the week helps support the valuable work carried out by these charities.
