A FUNERAL director from St Leonards is set to take on a unique fundraising challenge later this week by running a 5K race dressed in full funeral attire during one of the area’s biggest charity events.
Molly Dowling, who works as a Funeral Arranger and Funeral Director in St. Leonards, will take part in the Out Of The Blue Battle event on Thursday, June 25, raising money for charity while honouring the memory of a close friend.
The challenge comes after Molly successfully passed her Diploma in Funeral Directing, marking another milestone in a career she has pursued since leaving school.
Molly is dedicating her run to Andy, a close friend who died in 2024 and whom she credits with helping to shape both her personal and professional life.
She said: “Andy was a very good friend, personally and professionally, and always inspired me to achieve my goals, no matter what.”
With temperatures expected to remain high this week, the challenge of completing a 5K in traditional funeral clothing will be even tougher. However, Molly says she is determined to see it through in support of causes close to her heart.
