RESIDENTS raised concerns after a large number of Southern Water tankers were seen parked outside Galley Hill Pumping Station in Bexhill this morning (July 16).

Several readers contacted Bexhill News after spotting the vehicles, with some fearing they could be linked to a local sewage incident.

However, Southern Water said the tankers had been deployed purely as a precaution while repair work was carried out at the site.

A Southern Water spokesperson said: “The tankers are on standby as a precaution for a repair on site at Galley Hill Pumping Station.

“The repair work is scheduled to be complete by the end of today, July 16. We thank residents and commuters for their continued patience.”

The company did not provide further details about the nature of the repair but confirmed the tankers were in place to support operations while the work was being completed.

The repair is expected to be finished by the end of Thursday.
