AROUND eight jobs are expected to be created when national retailer The Works opens a new store in Bexhill town centre this week.
The books, crafts and stationery chain will open at 42/42A Devonshire Road, the former Maybugs store, on Thursday, October 22, bringing fresh retail investment to one of the town’s main shopping streets.
The company estimates the opening will create eight local jobs, although it has not disclosed the value of its investment in the premises.
The new shop will sell books, arts and crafts materials, toys, games and stationery, alongside seasonal gifts and Christmas ranges.
Store manager Nora Wykes said: “As store manager, I’m incredibly proud to be bringing a space to Bexhill-on-Sea where everyone can explore great-value books, crafts and activities, and enjoy those all-important moments of creativity and play.
“We’re looking forward to opening our doors and giving the community the chance to discover something new, whatever their interests!”
Founded in 1981, The Works focuses on affordable products for reading, learning and creative activities. Its Bexhill branch will offer the chain’s multibuy promotions, including 10 children’s picture books for £10.
The store will open from 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
