CHILDREN braved the weather to try out Pebsham’s new inclusive play area at its official ribbon-cutting ceremony recently.
Deputy Mayor Councillor Paul Peters performed the honours on Friday, October 16, joined by local dignitaries, town council representatives and the playground’s manufacturers.
The colourful space at Seabourne Road Recreation Ground, just off Seabourne Road, features an accessible trampoline, a wheelchair swing and sensory equipment alongside traditional playground attractions.

There are also opportunities for children to learn the alphabet in sign language and braille, while a shelter offers protection from the elements, proving useful during the opening.
Local children and their parents and guardians put the equipment to the test despite the weather. Representatives from local charities and disability-focused organisations also attended and praised the new facilities, according to Bexhill-on-Sea Town Council.
The project had been in the pipeline for several years and is the first outdoor space of its kind to join the town council’s assets.
Work began on August 10 and was completed during the week beginning October 12. Contractor eibe Play Ltd installed the equipment, with Rother District Council providing funding through the Community Infrastructure Levy scheme.
Residents are invited to share feedback on any aspect of the play area by emailing info@bexhilltowncouncil.gov.uk.
